The functionality will be rolled out to the Model S through Software Update 7.0, which entails, according to Musk “a complete change of the user interface”. This should make the car partially self-propelled, though not yet known exactly how it has actually occurred.
Tesla is currently testing the system by the model of San Francisco to drive to Seattle, without the driver having to do anything. The update will be rolled out to owners of the S model within “about three months”, however, would only offer “kind of self-propelled functions”.
The functionality is initially limited to highways in the United States, due to the increasing complexity of traffic in towns and smaller roads. However, adds the capability to roll out the software update to allow for the Model S remote parking on private property.
